Shanghai, China Securities Journal – On the evening of March 18, Shanghai Emperor of Cleaning Hi-Tech Co., LTD released its 2023 annual report. The company reported revenue of RMB 541 million and a net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company of RMB 38.9741 million. It plans to distribute a cash dividend of RMB 0.70 per share (before tax) to all shareholders for every 10 shares held.
During the reporting period, the company’s revenue and net profit declined compared to the previous year. This was mainly due to the high base effect from the water treatment services provided for quarantine facilities in the first half of 2022 during the public health incident, which contributed over RMB 40 million in gross profit. Additionally, adhering to the principle of prudence, the company made provisions for asset impairment totaling nearly RMB 28 million after assessing expected credit losses and conducting impairment tests on relevant assets.
Key projects underpinning the performance of core businesses during the reporting period include:
First, bolstered by continuously enhanced water treatment technologies and operational capabilities, the Industrial Business Division optimized project selection in the steel sector. Despite an overall decline in revenue from water treatment services in this segment, both gross margin and profit margin increased simultaneously. The integrated water treatment operations in the petrochemical and oilfield sectors also achieved steady growth. Notably, the integrated water treatment equipment project for the Chuanxi (Pengzhou) Gas Field of Sinopec Southwest Petroleum Bureau has been successfully commissioned and is now in the operation and maintenance phase.
Second, the Civil Business Division expanded its regional coverage, with significant contract value growth in projects such as the reclaimed water treatment station at Tencent’s Huailai Ruibei Cloud Data Center and air cooling (AHU) circulating cooling water treatment. The outdoor water park water treatment project at Chongqing Shanshui Theme International Leisure Tourism Resort resumed smoothly during the reporting period. Meanwhile, the division strengthened its leading position in China by expanding services in central air conditioning water treatment, boiler water treatment, landscape water treatment, rainwater harvesting and reclaimed water reuse, wastewater treatment for hazardous and municipal waste disposal sites, as well as water supply and drainage systems for commercial buildings, airports, railway stations, and large urban complexes.
Leveraging strong quality and brand influence, along with collaborative relationships with project owners and contractors, the Civil Business Division successfully extended its reach beyond the African Union Conference Center and Saipan, USA, to include water treatment equipment projects such as the new Luanda International Airport in Angola, the new Phnom Penh International Airport in Cambodia, and the Malaysia Malaki project, delivering notable social and economic benefits.
During the reporting period, the company actively responded to national environmental and energy policies, driving innovation through robust operations and execution. While steadily maintaining its "First Frontline" core business in water treatment, the company actively advanced its "Second Frontline" strategy, focusing on the research, development, and commercialization of advanced materials. These include oxide solid electrolyte powder for lithium-ion solid-state batteries, silicon-carbon anode materials, and key mesoporous carbon-based materials for silicon-carbon anodes, representing new quality productive forces.
Guided by the Advanced Materials Business Division and with strong support from partners, the company successfully trial-produced advanced material production lines for lithium-ion solid-state battery powder at ton to ten-ton annual capacity. In December 2023, a parallel ten-ton scale pilot line for silicon-carbon anode materials was also successfully commissioned. The near-zero expansion silicon-carbon anode products have been tested by leading domestic battery manufacturers and reached advanced national levels. Optimization of production processes and materials for oxide solid electrolyte powder and silicon-carbon anode materials is underway, and scale-up trials for mesoporous carbon-based materials, a key component of silicon-carbon anodes, are progressing steadily.
To date, the company has achieved multi-batch trial production and sample delivery of solid electrolyte powders (including oil-based, water-based, and slurry forms) and silicon-carbon anode materials. Samples are currently in the production and testing phase for specific battery types. Although only temporary or small-batch orders have been generated thus far, with the trend of product iteration solidifying, effective market demand is expected to gradually form and expand, offering significant potential in consumer electronics, drones, power batteries, and other markets.
It is worth noting that, under the "Dual Frontline" strategy and in response to market changes and potential demand, the company has outlined a development plan focused on new quality productive forces. Key priorities include advanced material manufacturing, equipment upgrades, digital and intelligent transformation, air cooling (AHU) for cloud data centers, liquid cooling (CDU) for computing power, and overseas water treatment business. These initiatives aim to enhance resource organization, innovate service capabilities, strengthen core competitiveness, and leverage synergies between the two frontlines to empower core business excellence and growth.
